Penny Palmer

EMS Instructor

Penny Palmer is currently the Lead EMT Instructor for Premier Health & Safety Academy, where she brings nearly two decades of experience, compassion, and dedication to her teaching. She began her EMS journey at LifeCare Academy in 2005, later earning her Paramedic certification in 2016 and becoming both an EMS and AHA-certified instructor. Penny has also served as a Paramedic, Volunteer Firefighter, and EMS Coordinator with the Grafton Township Fire Department, where she continues to play an active role in patient care and education. She takes great pride in helping students grasp the complexities of the human body and finds joy in seeing their excitement as they grow in skill and confidence.

Born and raised in Grafton, Ohio—formerly known as Belden—Penny graduated from Midview High School in 1989 before beginning her EMS career many years later. Her teaching journey began at LifeCare Academy in Elyria, where she assisted in the first EMT class offered by Premier Health & Safety Academy, primarily supporting lab sessions. Now, as the Lead EMT Instructor, she continues to foster a positive, hands-on learning environment that emphasizes teamwork, professionalism, and a deep understanding of emergency care.

Penny’s motivation comes from her genuine love of people and her desire to serve her community. She values the camaraderie among instructors and the opportunity to help others during moments of need. Outside of the classroom and station, Penny enjoys spending time with her family—her husband of 30 years, their five children, and nine grandchildren. When time allows, she indulges her passion for baking and enjoys date nights with her husband at LongHorn Steakhouse.
