OVERVIEW
COURSE SUMMARY
In addition to skills review, the course incorporates scenario-based training to help students apply their knowledge in realistic emergency situations. Participants will practice integrating assessment findings, treatment priorities, and communication while operating within an EMS system. This refresher course is intended to prepare EMRs for recertification requirements, skills validation, or a return to active service by reinforcing confidence, competency, and readiness to respond.
Course Requirements
Current EMT (or AEMT) certification
High-school diploma/GED and valid driver’s license
Completion of a college course Anatomy & Physiology I and II, or A & P for Paramedics or Healthcare professionals
Negative drug screen, background check, and full immunization record
Entrance exam and interview; tuition deposit paid
What You'll Earn
Paramedic course completion certificate accepted by State EMS Office
Eligibility to sit for the National Registry Paramedic (NRP) cognitive & psychomotor exams
AHA ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS/ITLS Provider cards (each valid 2 years or 3 years per course rules)
Approximately 60 college credits (varies by program) toward an AAS in Paramedicine
1,000+ CAPCE-accredited education hours for initial licensure
Documented competency in advanced airway & ventilator management, ECG rhythm interpretation, cardioversion/defibrillation, and intravenous/intraosseous access
Documented competency in medication administration across all routes and in critical-care patient management
Documented competency in EMS team leadership, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice

Medical emergencies: neuro, endocrine, tox, psych

Critical-care skills: ventilators, pumps, infusion drips
Special populations: OB, neonatal, pediatric, geriatric
EMS leadership, documentation, QA/QI
Extensive hospital rotations & ALS field internship
