Brian Bell

Brian Bell is a seasoned Firefighter, Paramedic, and EMS Instructor with a deep commitment to training the next generation of emergency responders. As an instructor for the Paramedic Program at Premier Health & Safety Academy and the Fire Training Program with the Lorain County Fire Chiefs Association, he emphasizes both textbook precision and real-world readiness. Brian is passionate about preparing students to transition seamlessly from the classroom to the field, teaching them to think critically and perform confidently from their very first day on the job.

Born and raised in Elyria and now living in Lorain, Brian’s professional journey began in 1995 as an EMT at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin. Over the years, he has served on three fire departments, including his current role as a Lieutenant with the Avon Fire Department. He has taught at LC Fire Chiefs, LC JVS, and LifeCare EMS Training Academy, serving on advisory boards for all three. A lifelong learner, Brian earned his EMT at JVS, completed his Firefighter training through the Lorain County Fire Chiefs Training Academy, earned his Paramedic certification at LCCC, and became an instructor under Jenny Reidy at Providence Hospital in 2001. He later obtained his Associate’s degree in Fire Service Leadership from Cincinnati State Technical College (2019) and his Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from Bowling Green State University (2022).

What drives Brian is simple—helping people. He believes that EMS professionals have the privilege of turning someone’s worst day into something just a little bit better. His goal as an educator is to instill that same sense of purpose in his students, ensuring they are ready to make a difference in their communities. Outside of work, Brian enjoys building and fixing things, from home renovations to repairing lawn mowers, finding satisfaction in making something broken work again. He loves visiting new places, especially North Carolina, and is also known for his famous buffalo chicken salad—a favorite among family and friends.
